10 of greatest inventors killed by their own inventions/Experiments

These are the great people whose discoveries have changed the world but they were unfortunate as they died or injured themselves while performing their experiments. The advances they have made to science are incredible and many of them opened the doors for some of man’s greatest discoveries and inventions.

1 - Thomas Midgley- Leaded Petrol and Mechanical Bed

Thomas Midgley, an American chemist who developed both leaded petrol and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), was notoriously known as ‘the one human responsible for more deaths than any other in history’. As if it was nature’s idea to get revenge on him he was left disabled in his bed due to lead poisoning and polio at the age of 51. Keeping his inventive juices flowing, he designed a complicated system of strings and pulleys on his bed so that he could lift himself up when needed. This invention was the cause of his death at the age of 55 when he was accidentally entangled in the ropes of his bed and died of strangulation. Talk about double irony.
2 - Otto Lilienthal - Hang Glider

‘To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything’ - famous words uttered by Otto Lilienthal who was one of the pioneers of human aviation and invented the first few hang gliders. He made over 2500 successful flights using his own inventions for five straight years starting from 1891 until one fateful day, in the mid of 1896, his glider lost lift and he crashed from a height of 17m (56 feet). The impact broke his spine and a day later, he succumbed to his injuries. His last words are a source of inspiration for all those who face numerous obstacles in life while trying to achieve something big: ‘Small sacrifices must be made!’
3 - Franz Reichelt- The Overcoat Parachute

Franz Reichelt an Austrian born tailor of the 1800’s was most famously known for inventing an overcoat which he claimed to act as a parachute and could bring its wearer gently to the ground or even to fly under the right conditions. This inventor, who was also called the ‘The Flying Taylor’, attempted to demonstrate his invention by jumping off the first deck of the Eiffel tower himself instead of using a dummy, in front of a large crowd of spectators and camera crew. The result? The parachute failed to deploy and he crashed into the hard concrete ground at the foot of the tower, the impact immediately killing him.
4 - Alexander Bogdanov- Blood Transfusion

A renowned Russian physician, philosopher, economist, science fiction writer, and revolutionary, Alexander Bogdanov developed a sudden interest in the possibility of human rejuvenation through blood transfusions. In hopes of achieving eternal youth and bodily revitalization, he undertook 11 blood transfusions, ultimately reporting an improvement in eyesight and reduction of balding. Great invention, right? Wrong. Bogdanov died in 1928, after he did a transfusion on himself with blood from a student that had tuberculosis and malaria.
5 - William Bullock- Rotary Printing press

In the history of bizarre accidents, William Bullock’s story is always cited as an example. Bullo ck was an American inventor whose 1863 invention of the rotary printing press helped revolutionize the printing industry due to its efficiency and ability to print 10,000 units per hour. In April 1867, while he was trying to install a new printer in one of his presses, in a frustrated attempt to make adjustments to the machine, he kicked a driving belt onto a pulley. What followed next tops scenes from even the most gruesome movies like Hostel and Saw. His foot got caught in the merciless contraption, was crushed beyond repair and developed a severe gangrene infection for four days. Bullock died during an operation to amputate his foot. Bizarre Indeed.
6 - Cowper Coles - Turret Ship

A famous Chinese stateman once said: “Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive one; it is man and not materials that counts” I guess Cowper Coles should have really taken that thought into consideration before inventing the turret ship- an ironclad war vessel, with low sides, on which heavy guns are mounted on a low structure, which may be rotated. The ship was so overly loaded with armored structures that they shifted its centre of gravity and caused it to become unstable resulting in the vessel capsizing on 6th September 1870. Cowper Coles was one of the 500 that died when it sunk. Only 18 of its crew survived.
7 - Henry Winstanley - Lighthouse

Necessity is the mother of invention. Sure enough, after losing not one but two of his ships on the treacherous Eddystone Reef, Winstanley, a famous English architect and engineer felt it necessary to construct a lighthouse for the protection of his own and other ships. In the early 1700’s he invented the first Eddystone Lighthouse and proudly told the world that he wished he could "be in the light-house during the greatest storm that ever was". Little did he know his prayer would soon be answered on the night of November 26th, 1703, when one of the most destructive hurricanes Great Britain has ever experienced shook the reefs and did incalculable damage. In the morning, when the skies finally cleared, and ships reached Eddystone Rocks, Winstanley's great lighthouse was gone. And he was gone with it.

8 - John Godfrey Parry-Thomas

Welsh motor-racing driver and engineer J.G Parry Thomas, with a strong desire to regain his title as land speed record holder, a title snatched away from him by Malcom Campbell, decided to create a special type of vehicle to achieve his dream. His invention was a car he called Babs, which had many modifications, such as exposed chains to connect the engine to the drive wheels and the high engine cover requiring him to drive with his head tilted to only the right side. On trying to reclaim his record from Campbell, in the final race, the right-hand drive chain broke at a speed of 170 mph (270 km/h), flew into his neck, partially decapitating him and causing a head injury. He died instantly.
9 - Marie Curie- Radioactive substances

Ever wondered where the word ‘Polonium’ came from? Well, it came from a Polish physicist and chemist and Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie who named her newly discovered chemical after her native country. Ever wondered what happened to this discoverer of Polonium, Radium and Theory of Radioactivity? She died on July 4, 1934, from aplastic anemia, as a result of exposure to radiation after working continuously in a small enclosed shed without any safety measures because radiation’s danger were not well understood at that time.
10 - Donald Campbell - Speed engine for motorboat

Speed thrills but kills. We all know it yet we all ignore it. It’s human nature to challenge well known facts of life. British car and motorboat racer Donald Campbell was no different. He broke eight world speed records in the 1950s and 60s and to quench his insatiable drive to conquer speed he decided to try for another water speed record in 1966. This time the target was 300 mph. He invented a lighter and more powerful engine for his boat Bluebird K7. Blame it on adrenaline rush or sheer stupidity but instead of refueling and waiting for the wash of his first run to subside, as is usual with speedboat races, Campbell decided to make a return run immediately. The craft's stability began to falter as it travelled over the rough water and it somersaulted at a 45 degree angle plunging back into the lake and disintegrating at a speed of 320mph. Needless to say, the inventor was killed.

10 of Craziest Ironic Deaths of All Time

Once I stumbled and got to read this list from StumbleUpon.com, I find it funny. Check it out why.

In honor of the owner of the Segway dying in a Segway accident and a Green Party candidate getting killed by an SUV recently, here are the Top 10 most ironic deaths in recorded history. Sure, a lot of funny deaths in history are extremely tragic and unfortunate, but very few are actually "ironic." Feel free to debate the irony.

1 - Owner of the Segway Company Dies in a Segway Accident

Jimi Heselden was the owner of the Segway company and an avid practitioner of the two-wheel motorized scooters the company produces. A multi-millionaire, he owned an estate in the countryside of England, and there would ride the rugged country version of the Segway. That particular contraption (as seen to your left) contained such luxuries as a mudguard and extra wide tires with deep treads for going off the road, cause there's nothing like offroading in a scooter.

But one day (recently), while going “off-roading” on the rugged Segway, he literally went off the road and drove off a 80 foot cliff down to his death.

2 - Green Party Candidate is Killed by an SUV

Natasha Pettigrew was a Green party member and was set to be the party's candidate for the US Senate. A successful, well-rounded politician, she also aspired to be an accomplished tri-athlete and she would train tirelessly in the early hours of the morning. Like any eco-friendly Green party candidate she rode her bike whenever she could.

While riding her bike one day she was hit and killed by a driver in an SUV. To add insult to injury, the driver thought she was a deer and just left her on the side of the road to die. She rode all the way home with a bike under her car. That's right, she was driving an SUV big enough for her not to "notice" that she had an ENTIRE BICYCLE under her car. This is when cars get too big.

The police found the bicycle embedded in the undercarriage of the car and the Green Party found its latest political hopes destroyed in one stroke, and one completely unnecessarily long, loud car ride. She was killed in front of her father and half-brother, who survived the ordeal.
3 - Man Acquitted from Electric Chair Dies in Accidental Electrocution on Metal Toilet

In 1989, convicted murderer Michael Anderson was awaiting the electric chair for the charges bestowed on him.

The universe decided, then, that the US Criminal Justice system was being a little too slow for it, so as the man was on his metal toilet (a fate horrible enough in of itself) he tried to fix his television. And to prove exactly how great of a decision-maker he was, he decided to bite down on a wire of his television while sitting on this metal toilet. This electrocuted him, using the wet metal toilet as a conductor, and killed him with the voltage.

And the warden, witnesses and the press didn't even have to show up!

Honorable mention to Laurence Baker, also a convicted murderer, who (while serving a life sentence at in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) was electrocuted by his home made headphones ("No, I swear these are legit") while watching TV and sitting on a metal toilet.

So word to the wise, next time you're at a metal toilet either in prison or in a beach bathroom, do NOT watch television and do NOT touch ANY wires. Ever.

4 - Man Drowns in Pool During a Life Guard Association Party

In 1985, the New Orleans lifeguards threw a big party to celebrate the fact that no one had drowned in any pool during the summer season (no, really). A clean, no-drowning record! A GREAT reason to celebrate!

"Hey Mark, guess what?"

"What, Kyle?"

"You're never gonna- okay. Get this. No blood on our hands this summer."

"What? Are you kidding me? We NEED to have a party"

But when all the excessive celebrations were over, Jerome Moody (not a lifeguard, but a guest at a party filled with lifeguards) was found drowned at the deep end of the department pool.

Mr. Moody was not a lifeguard, but he was at a party where 4 lifeguards were on duty and another 200 off-duty lifeguards were in attendance celebrating that an entire summer with no deaths... so... yeah.
5 - Psycho Body Double Killed In Shower

Myra Davis, whose professional acting name was Myra Jones, was involved in the production of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. She served as a stand-in for Janet Leigh the woman who (Spoiler Alert for anyone who was born less than five years ago) was killed in the famous shower scene to the horrific, screechy strings.

Years later, in 1988, she was raped and killed by a man who was so obsessed with Psycho’s famous shower scene that he wanted to re-enact it upon Janet Leigh’s body double.

Unfortunately for Myra Davis, the producers of the film had kept such a tight lip on how they shot the scene and which actresses they used that the information the killer gleaned over the years was skewed.

Davis never appeared in the shower scene.

It was another actress, Marli Renfro, who served as Leigh’s body double and subsequently the body that audiences and the killer saw stabbed over and over again on the big screen.

Not only was she killed in the same way someone was in the movie she was most famous for, but she wasn't even IN the scene the killer was trying to emanate.
6 - Mel Ignatow

Mel Ignatow was tried and convicted for the murder of Brenda Sue Schafer in 1988 based on evidential photos that showed the woman being brutalized by an unidentified male. The moles on Ignatow's body provided a match to the man in the picture and became concrete evidence that he killed this woman.

He brutally beat her to death while he bound her to a GLASS coffee table, bludgeoning her body until it was lifeless on that glass coffee table.

However, Ignatow got away with only ten years because of perjury and double jeopardy, whereas he would have served a life sentence otherwise.

Several years later, in a freak accident, he tripped and fell in his apartment... onto a glass coffee table. The coffee table's glass cut and maimed him so bad, that he lost too much blood to do anything about his situation.

As he succumbed to the fatal cuts on his head and arms, his final thoughts must have been dominated by the fact that what killed him also killed his victim. The irony is, most likely, what killed him. I looked it up using "science."
7 - Clement Vallandigham

Clement Vallandigham was a lawyer who represented a man charged with killing someone during a bar fight. Vallandigham’s approach was to convince the jury the dead man had shot himself as he drew his weapon from his pocket. As he faced the jury, Vallandigham re-created the situation exactly as it happened. And when I say exactly, I mean that he managed to also re-create the end result: a man shooting himself whilst drawing his pistol.

Vallandigham died from his injuries, but did manage to acquit his client on the grounds that a man can accidentally shot himself drawing a weapon from his pocket by showing the jury exactly how this was done.

Lawyer. Of. The. Century.
8 - Niagara Falls Jumper/Survivor Dies from 4-foot Fall

Bobby Leach was known for his daredevil antics. His most famous death-defying stunt was surviving going over the Niagara Falls in a barrel back in 1911 (as seen in the picture). That fall fractured his jaw and broke both knee-caps, but it did not kill him. It would define his life and he embarked on many publicity tours thereafter.

On one of such publicity tours, he walked down the street and slipped on an orange peel (some say banana peels, but that was before those were out of style to slip and die from).

The fall he suffered (probably about 4-6 feet vs. Niagara Falls's 180 feet) was so hard that he broke his leg, which became infected with gangrene, and eventually amputated. He died from complications following the amputation.
9 - John Sedgwick

John Sedgwick was a major general for the Union Army in the Civil War who played key roles in such famed battles like the Battle of Antietam and the Battle of Gettysburg. By the time of his death, he was the most senior major general in the Army and worthy of great respect.

So at the Battle of Spotsylavania Court House, he stood proud at the front line directing the placement of the Union artillery. The Confederates were advancing, however, from 1,000 yards away causing his subordinates to dodge and run around, hesitant at standing in the open.

Incensed, Sedgwick declared he was ashamed of his men, that the enemy was too far to cause damage, and that “they couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance.”

Seconds later, he died after being struck by an enemy bullet below his left eye. Guess he was wrong.
10 - Writer of Most Optimistic Song Commits Suicide

Felix Powell was the force behind what was considered one of the most optimistic songs in history, "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag and Smile, Smile, Smile". The song was known to have gotten thousands of soldiers throughout the horrors of World War I.

A song with a mass effect like that could easily garner great royalties, but Powell carried greater inner-burdens. He committed suicide while wearing his duty uniform, possibly too haunted by the war too see what was so upbeat about the song that got so many others through it.

In November 2008, Charice performed on America’s top-rating morning show “Good Morning America.” She appeared on the show to promote David Foster’s new CD-DVD “Hitman: David Foster & Friends.” Charice is one of several performers featured in the album, along with music icons Kenny G, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Katharine McPhee, Andrea Bocelli and Dion.

Hollywood comes a calling. Charice played a bit role in “Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel,” adding the film role to her list of accomplishments.

10 Things Boys Don’t like to hear from their Girlfriend

The “male ego” is usually the most sensitive aspect of a guy’s nature. The fact, that most men live in their “heads” accounts for the king size egos that they carry. Men are “mind” centric and usually have core issues with their “self image”. It would be impossible to find a man who does not feel touchy about his self image. Men, in general, are very egoistic – you can say it’s almost genetic.

It’s easy for misunderstandings to creep into a relationship when the girl says things that a guy is likely to misinterpret. So here’s a Top10 list of a few things that guys don’t like to hear from their girl.

You are so “thin” or you are so “fat”

Most guys are very touchy about their body and the last thing they want to hear from their girlfriend is a “negative” comment about their body, even if they know it to be true.
You should be more like that guy

Comparisons are best avoided especially keeping the “male ego” in mind. Just like girls don’t like to be compared to other girls, guys hate to be compared with other guys. Many girls tend to make this mistake when they are feeling pissed off about something their boyfriend did. The only problem is that the guy is going to remember your “remark” and he is going to hurt bad.
You dress funny

Don’t ever comment about a guy’s dressing style in a negative way. It’s not only going to annoy him but also make him “squirm” within. Of course, there is no harm in giving him tips on how he can improve his dressing, but be sure to do that in a “diplomatic” way.
You are boring

If you say this to your boyfriend once, you are going to give him a complex which he may not recover from. Guys hate to be “boring” around girls. He is going to take it a very personal insult. Don’t even say this in a joking manner.

You kiss pathetic

Guys pride themselves on their “kissing” prowess, not matter how badly they suck at it. It’s best to let a guy live in his delusion and not bring home the reality that he is bad kisser. The only thing you will accomplish is get him really “pissed” off with you.
You are so girlish

Men hate to be called “girlish”, it’s a deep insult to their manhood. Many girls try to be funny and call their boyfriend “girlish” without realizing that the guy is going to hurt bad, even if he does not reveal it.
I am too busy to talk

Even if you are really busy, don’t say this to your boyfriend. Even the most “understanding” guy is bound to flinch when his girlfriend says she is too busy to talk. Relationships go bad over small things like this.
You have a small...

Guys are very touchy about their size down there. So be very careful about your comments on it. Everything you say about it best be positive. Most girls make the mistake of making a guy conscious of his “sexual” prowess, by saying something negative when they are miffed or “unsatisfied”. By doing so, you are will only create “performance” pressure in a guy.
You are a bad driver

Most guys are very touchy about their driving skills. Here again, every guy believes that he is a “great” driver. So be very careful about your comments on his driving skills.
I love “so and so” (famous guy)

Guys hate their girlfriend going “puppy eyed” about an actor, or some media star. To swoon over “Brad Pitt” while in the company of your boyfriend is going to make him resent you, especially if he has a possessive nature – which most guys have.

Many girls fail to understand the “ego” aspect of a male nature. More relationships would be successful if a girl is willing to make “allowances” for her boyfriend’s, or husband’s, male ego which is bound to show up every now and then. It’s so easy to “unknowingly” trample on a guy’s ego. The worst part is that the guy with a hurt ego is bound to feel “resentment” towards you no matter how much he loves you.

From the Start of the New Nation
Korean people have always maintained their faith in the power of education, even through colonial occupation and war during the tumultuous first half of the 20th century. Thus in 1946, just months after Korea regained its independence, Seoul National University was established as the first piece of the educational foundation for the new nation.
After a few short years, the campus had to be abandoned at the start of the Korean war in 1950, as civilians fled south to escape the frontlines. But the passion of the professors and students sustained the school through the war, with classes held outside refugee camps.

Comprehensive Research University
Thanks to this 'education fever', Seoul National University has grown remarkably in the past six decades. Now comprising 16 colleges and associated graduate schools, 6 professional graduate schools, and 65 research institutes, the SNU community has expanded to nearly 23,000 students and 2,500 faculty members. It has moved to Gwanak campus which has 192.366km2 of campus and 300 of buildings for education and research. SNU is in building new campuses outside of Gwanak such as 'Bio information technology port at Cheongna(0.6km2, by 2017), Advanced institute of convergence technology (0.1km2, by 2008) and Greenbio research complex (by 2010).

9 - Tohoku University
Japan, L|FC|, Score: 94.30

Tohoku University was founded in 1907 as the third imperial university, during the period when Japan had begun to transform itself into a modernized society. Since then, it has played a leading role in both research and education in Japan, and is now ranked among the top universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

From the start Tohoku University has maintained uniqueness within Japan. The university has always conceived strong loyalty to science while other former imperial universities have tried to meet the governmental needs. This has resulted in remarkable success in the University's own research and also the cultivation of brilliant students who have maintained a desire for science even after they left the university. A typical example, and probably the best known is Mr. Koichi Tanaka, the 2002 Nobel Prize laureate and a graduate of the class of 1983.

The university sees science as something to be used for the good of humanity. This has encouraged us to apply the most advanced scientific knowledge in various fields such as engineering, medicine, and law, to the needs of society. The university is widely regarded as one of the most active in industry-university cooperation in Japan.

We have also placed great emphasis on an "open door" policy. Tohoku University was the first national university to turn coeducational and there is a constant influx of large numbers of International students and scholars from all over the world. In April 2004, all national universities in Japan became incorporated body and therefore legally independent of the national government. We are firmly convinced that the key to success to this new organizational structure is our existing "open door" policy and in particular, our ambitious plans for continued transnational research collaboration and student exchange.

Tohoku University is located in the northern part of Honshu Island--the main island of Japan--, in the City of Sendai. There are several campuses, fully equipped with everything necessary to a modern academic environment in scenic surroundings and a mild climate. Sendai itself is a historic port city, close to the mountains and permeated with woodland areas.

Tohoku University is situated in an extremely comfortable place to live and work and has some of the most friendly and exciting colleagues you will find in Japan.

10 Signs That Your Breaking Up With Boyfriend

Do you have a feeling that a break-up with your boyfriend is around the corner? Breaking up is never easy (especially if it’s not your decision), but oftentimes it is necessary.

Perhaps it’s a matter of growing apart or falling out of love. Perhaps one or both of you just aren’t into each other anymore. In extreme cases, perhaps the relationship has become emotionally and/or physically abusive, alternating between cold, sullen resentment and overt hostility.

Have a look at the following 10 signs of breaking up with boyfriend and figure out for yourself.

1 - You don't go out together as often as you used to

One of the very obvious signs of a break up is the fact that you and your boyfriend do not go out together as often as you used to. This directly means that the need to stay together has reduced between the both of you.
2 - Your boyfriend does not call you as often as he used to

Has the number of calls and messages reduced over time? One of the signs of breaking up is the reduction in the number of calls and messages that are exchanged between lovers. So if you feel that this communication has reduced then you could be looking at a break-up coming up.
3 - Your boyfriend did not wish you on a special occasion

Did your boyfriend forget to wish you on a special occasion? I got to tell you here that men do tend to forget special occasions. But if your man is not the forgetful type and has wished you before without fail and is not doing so recently then there is a break-up building up somewhere.
4 - Your boyfriend does not reply to your emails instantly

Has it ever happened that you mailed or messaged your boyfriend only to receive a reply the other day with an excuse that he did not see your message so long? This is a sign that your boy friend was not very inclined to reply to your mail. One among the many signs of breaking up with boyfriend.
5 - There are other girls that he hangs out with

Does your boyfriend spend more time with other girls than you? This directly means your man is trying to send break-up signals to you.

6 - The praises and gifts have reduced

Have the praises and gifts reduced overtime? How many times does your man say that he loves you? Or that you look beautiful? Men love to praise their girl and bring her loads of goodies. So if these have reduced overtime then you know that the break up is around the corner
7 - The level of intimacy has reduced

Men show a high level of intimacy towards the girl they love. You would have noticed this initially. If you feel that the level of intimacy has lowered in any way then this is a solid sign that your boyfriend wants to break up with you.
8 - He is not bothered even if you don't call him for days together

Try not calling your boyfriend or meeting him for days together. No phones, no emails nothing. See what happens. Generally in these occasions men are the ones who come forward to find out what the issue is. But if your boy friend is simply not bothered and does not mind the long separation then this is a solid sign of breaking up.
9 - You don't feel the same with him again

When a man and woman are together there is a certain chemistry formed between them and this chemistry gives rise to a sweet feeling inside. Men feel this when they are with their girl and so do woman. So if your man does not make you feel anything inside then this is one solid breaking up sign
10 - The number of fights has increased

Guys generally have a tendency to resolve a fight, so if you and your boyfriend fight and leave for days without speaking and no one actually coming forward to resolve the situation then there is something wrong. This is a clear sign that your boyfriend is not missing you and wants to break-up

So if you think some among these 10 signs of breaking up has taken place between the both of you then you are getting there.

10 Signs That A Man Is In Love

As women we know that sometimes it can be difficult to determine whether a man is in love with us. Some men just aren't as forthcoming about their feelings as others. There are some definite signs that a man is in love and once you understand what they are, it's much easier to gauge how a man is feeling about you.

Listed below are 10 signs a man is in love. These are signs that are apparent in most guys who are in love with a girl. No one guy is bound to exhibit all the signs, but you can find one or more signs in his behavior. As a girl, you should not take these signs on their face value and assume that the guy is in love with you. If he exhibits these signals it just means that there is higher probability that he is in love with you.

1 - He behaves shy around you

He might be an extrovert of the highest nature but he behaves shy when he’s talking to you. This can be taken as definite sign that the man is in love and that you hold a special place in his heart.
2 - He calls you on some pretext or the other

If it becomes obvious that he called you for no specific reason but just to talk to you, though he cites some made up reason, then you can sure that he is interested in you. He might even send messages or emails specifically with the intention of initiating contact.
3 - He tries to make eye contact with you ever so often

Whenever you are around he tries to make eye contact with you. Whenever you look at him you see him looking at you either directly or overtly. These are obvious signs that he has a crush on you.
4 - He has a different body language when you are around

You can see an apparent change in his body language when he sees you around. He might unconsciously touch up his face or hair, he might adjust his tie or play with his collar. This would indicate a rush of adrenaline in him whenever you are around, definite sign that a man is in love.
5 - He blushes when you pay him a compliment

People tend to blush when complimented so this is not an obvious sign but if you detect that he blushes specifically around you rather than with others then it would be indicate that he has special feelings for you. This may not be true for all men but a good majority of them.

6 - He stammers while talking to you

When a man is in love and is infatuated with a girl he gets tongue tied while talking to her. This is natural and can be taken as a definite sign that a guy likes a girl in a special way. Though the guy might actually feel miserable about stammering, it looks pretty cute from the girl’s perspective.
7 - He tries to help you with your work

If you see that a guy is making an effort to help you specifically, it would indicate that he is interested in you. He might help you with your office work or may offer to drop you home or pick you up for work, stuff like that. These are signs that a man is in love.
8 - He remembers your birthday

Most men are not good at remembering dates. If he remembers your birthday you can take it as a strong sign of his interest in you. In all likelihood he will get you a birthday gift too.
9 - He gives you preferential treatment

If there are a few girls in your group, or office circle, and you find that he gives preferential treatment to you alone then it would indicate his interest. You might see him smiling at you specifically or he might get you coffee out of his own interest, stuff like that.
10 - He starts improving his personal appearance

If a man is in love, he transforms his external appearance – hairstyle, dressing sense et al – in a short period of time after you came around in his vicinity, it would indicate that he is trying to impress you. Priming up is a definite sign that a man is in love.

So these are top signs a man is in love with you; remember not to generalize though. You can stay comforted in the knowledge that if a guy likes a girl he will surely make his intention known, even if he is an introvert of the highest kind. Men are like that.

10 Characteristics Men Find Attractive in a Woman

When we talk about attraction, we are not talking about lust (which is also a form of attraction). A man can be physically attracted to a woman, without any feelings of love, and this form of attraction is purely primal and is focused completely on the "body" of the woman involved. I found this list from great advice site whatdomenreallythink.com and hell, I really love it!

What we are talking about, in this article, is the attraction which is synonymous with love. Relationships are built on a love based attraction, so what's important would be know the traits in a woman, that men find most attractive, which makes them fall in love.

The following are some of the traits that guys find attractive in women. The list in not in any particular order of preference, and it can be assumed that the 10 factors make an impact in unison.
Soft heartedness

Men are more likely to fall in love with a woman who is soft, or warm, hearted, than a woman who is cold. Guys love to be mothered (not nagged but cared for), and so they tend to fall for a woman who offers them acceptance and warmth. This would have to be the trait that men find most attractive in women.

Modesty

Men fall in love with the "modest" girls, and lust after the "hot" ones. Modesty in behavior, dressing and talking is what men look for in their "long-term" partner. Though guys find "hot" women attractive, it's mostly physical in nature and they lose interest after a few passionate encounters in the bed. There is also a common consent among men that "hot" women are less reliable, and high maintenance. In short, men love women who they can take home to their mother.
Being Feminine

"Most Men" like feminine women. Feminity is all about being soft, kind hearted, understanding and caring. This attraction is justified by the fact that men are attracted to traits in a woman which they themselves lack.
Character

Men are attracted to a woman who projects a strength of character and integrity. The word "fidelity" is becoming rarer nowadays even among women, who were historically more loyal of the two, and men find this to be bad news. So men are constantly on the look out for a woman who can invoke trust through her strength of character.
The Woman's voice

Women are naturally endowed with a beautiful voice which men find highly attractive. Some men love a strong voice in a woman, some prefer a soft tone, with a high pitch. Some women have a husky voice and many guys find that attractive too.

Her Smile

A smile can easily win over a male heart. If, as a girl, you are prone to having a smiling face you are more likely to be approached by guys than when you have a smug, or frowning, face.
Her Eyes

Next to the smile, this is another facial feature that men get attracted to. Some men simply fall in love with the woman's eyes. The eyes can speak a thousand words and this is very much true with it comes to attracting men.
The Woman's Hair

Most men get attracted by moderately long hair or anything close to shoulder length as that looks more feminine. Having said that, there are a lot of men who find women with short hair attractive.

Physical Structure

As far as physical features are concerned, men get attracted to a woman's skin tone, lips, height and waist-to-hip ratio. Contrary to popular assumptions men are not bothered much about the size of the breasts or derriere when it comes to looking for a life mate. These factors are pretty much insignificant.

Sense Of Humor

Men generally get attracted to women with a good sense of humor. A Woman who can understand and laugh with them. Sense of humor is not necessarily the ability to crack jokes but the ability to understand and laugh at one.

So these are the ten important traits that men find attractive in women. But again, every man has his unique taste. The above points are common to most men but not for all. Look at it this way. A man may look for and get attracted to such qualities in a woman that he lacks himself. For instance, a tough guy will look for a soft female. Hope you got the idea.

Bear in mind that for every woman there is a man out there, so just relax and look out for him.

10 Ways That Can Turn Off Your Man

Women are called the “fairer” sex for a reason, they are inherently capable of being more dainty and pleasing that the “grosser” sex, the men. As the saying goes, girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, which is why they are perfectly complementary to men.

Men get turned on at the drop of a hat, and most women know that it does not take much for them have a man jumping the hoops. But as humans, men are just as prone to being repulsed by certain tendencies in women which induce a complete turn off. So what are the things that can turn off your man?

I stumbled to this 10 list from whatdomenreallythink.com and I decided to repost it here.

These are the 10 common things that turn off most men. Women can come up with an infinite list of things about men that turns them off, because men quite easily can be the more obnoxious sex in more than one way.

The “silent” treatment

Most women have a tendency to use “silent” treatment when they are hurt or angry about a certain behavior in their man. They put on a cold front and refuse to reply in a normal manner. The usual reply to all the queries that a guy puts through would be a pert “nothing”. This is highly irritating to men and in many cases it makes them want to tear their hair off. A man would be much happier if his woman is willing to talk out the issues instead of starting a cold war.
Being a cold fish in the bed

Some women, through no fault of theirs, are completely unresponsive in the bed. A guy is bound to feel turned off and frustrated when he finds that he’s the only moving object on the bed. Sex is supposed to be playful and fun, entailing a lot of movements and noises. The more energetic it is, the more fun and pleasurable. There are many women have are very inhibited and shy about their sexuality which ends up making them act like a cold fish when in bed. Most men take it as a personal insult to their sexual prowess.
Facial and body hair growth

Men are hairy all over that’s the very reason why they are attracted to a hairless body in their woman (apart from the head hair and eye brows of course). Most men are turned on by waxed legs and arms, and they are equally turned off if they detect anything hairy on a woman’s body. Facial hair is a complete turn off for most men especially around the chin or lip area. This is not a judgment but a unconscious reaction.
Being overly possessive

Men are usually the “chasers” and they like to stay that way. If a guy finds out a girl is “chasing” him he is bound to lose his interest in her. To keep the guy interested the girl must remain to be a challenge. If she gets overly possessive about him it would just turn him off.
Too religious

Some women tend to get overly religious or spiritual which can be a huge turn off for men. It’s true that there are many men who are religious fanatics, who take their Gods too seriously, but these very men would find it a turn off to be with an overly religious woman, for very obvious reasons.
A nagging attitude

There is something about men that gets women to nag them especially as the relationship ages. Most men complain about the hard time they have contending with the continuous complaints and scorns that their wife dishes out in the name of “self improvement”. Women on the other hand have no clue what the fuss is all about, after all they are only trying to “improve” their man.
Too attached to her family

It’s quite a pain for most men to have to contend with their “in laws” owing to their wife’s obsessive attachment with her parents. There is nothing wrong with being attached to your parents as long as it does not start eating into the personal time that you should be spending with your husband, this is what most men feel. It’s quite frustrating for the guy to find his wife on phone with her mother through most of the evening.
Female chauvinism

A man and a woman are made in the image of god as the Bible puts it. And it’s quite obvious that a man needs a woman to complete him and vice versa. In spite of this there are certain people, in each sex, that end up becoming chauvinistic. A feministic attitude, or a bossy nature, in a woman is what men find extremely irritating, and it’s a big turn off. Many feminists would like men to conform to certain unnatural standards that are completely contrary to a manly nature, a woman who depicts such an attitude would soon find her man running away from her.
A lazy “home maker”

Men have been brought up to look at their woman as their home maker. There’s nothing chauvinistic about it because that was the natural order of things for a long time and it’s deeply embedded in male conditioning. So men love women who are good home makers and are turned off by a woman who expects the man to cook and clean. This may sound harsh to many feminists but this is what men feel inherently. Men are naturally quite bad at “home” management and so they rely on women to play this part in their life.

Too “career” oriented

There are many marriages that have gone into ruins because of the corporate culture of today’s age. It’s quite common for the husband and wife to be employed in most households, and this gives rise to many ego clashes and misunderstandings especially when the man finds his wife becoming too “career centric” to care for her family. Men have traditionally loved the feminine characteristics in a woman and being a home make is one of them. An overly career centric wife is usually a turn off for the man.

The fact remains that men and women complement each other and its beauty is most evident in an intimate, and healthy, relationship.

10 of Movie's 20 Houses You Can Move In

A filming location is a place where some or all of a film or television series is produced, in addition to or instead of using sets constructed on a movie studio backlot or soundstage. For example, the television series 24 is filmed primarily on location except for some scenes which are always filmed on the same sets. On location is a term used to describe the filming on such a real site. The term is often mistakenly believed to mean that the production is being filmed on the actual location in which its story is set, but this is not necessarily the case.

There are many houses used as filming location, but totalfilm.com cut it down to 20 list to whom we can live in. Here's your top 10 of 20 movie houses you can move in.

1 - Blade Runner (1982)

The House: Designed by guru Frank Lloyd Wright, the 1924 Ennis House is nestled in the Hollywood Hills and sold for $15m in 2009.

The Movie: Ridley Scott’s moody masterpiece, set in a futuristic 2019 where ex-police officer Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is on the hunt for human look-alike Replicants.

If We Lived There: We’d paint each one of those squares a different colour and turn it into a 24/7 disco.
2 - Atonement (2007)

The House: A beautiful English manor called Stokesay Court. Built in 1889, it’s out in Shropshire somewhere.

The Movie: Haunting war drama in which a lie spirals out of control, and leads to James McAvoy heading out to war, never to see the love of his life ever again.

If We Lived There: We’d walk around in our finest frock all day long, draped in jewellery, and eat nothing but caviar.

3 - North By Northwest (1959)

The House: The Vandamm House. Not to be confused with the house of Jean-Claude Van Damme. Sadly it doesn’t actually exist, but you could build a copy - we're sure there's a blueprint lying around Hollywood somewhere.

The Movie: Celebrated as one of Alfred Hitchcock’s finest, Cary Grant stars as an innocent man mistaken for someone who wants to release government secrets to the world. It ends with that famous Mount Rushmore stand-off.

If We Lived There: It would either cure us of our debilitating fear of heights, or drive is crazy.

4 - Meet The Fockers (2004)

The House: Situated in the East of Los Angeles, this rather unique abode is normally white, and is known as the Baldwin Cottage (after founder Elias Baldwin).

The Movie: Comedy sequel, in which poor Focker Gaylord (Ben Stiller) has to introduce his family to his fiancée’s rabble – with belly-rolling results.

If We Lived There: We’d pretend we were Willy Wonka – doesn’t that look like the kind of place he’d live if evicted from the chocolate.

5 - What Lies Beneath (2000)

The House: A gorgeous lakeside residence in Addison, Vermont. Director Robert Zemeckis and his crew built the entire thing just for the movie.

The Movie: Creepy ghost story in which Michelle Pfeiffer is haunted by a spook when she moves into her new home. Meanwhile, has her scary neighbour really murdered his wife?

If We Lived There: We’d get an exorcist in pronto – you can never be too careful.

6 - Zombieland (2009)

The House: Sitting in Atlanta, Georgia, this abode doubles as Bill Murray’s crib in Zombieland. In reality, it belongs to ‘Big Poppa’, who was apparently formerly married to Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives Of Atlanta.

The Movie: Hilariously tongue-in-cheek zombie flick that follows a quartet of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world that’s fallen at the feet of ravenous flesh-munchers.

If We Lived There: We’d probably get lost for days and end up crying in a corner until the maid rescues us.

7 - Gone With The Wind (1939)

The House: Twelve Oaks, a once stunning town house.

The Movie: Sweeping epic based on Margaret Mitchell’s novel, set against the backdrop of the American civil war.

If We Lived There: We’d need to spend a good decade or so returning it to its former glory (it burned down in the 1950s), but we reckon we can get a ruin for a heck of a discount.

8 - Twilight (2008)

The House: Super-cool, super-stylish digs owned by the Cullen family of vampires. In real life, it’s owned by Nike footwear designer John Hoke.

The Movie: Faint-inducing adaptation of Stephenie Meyers’ first Twilight novel, starring dreamboat Robert Pattinson as a twinkly good vampire who doesn’t eat people – unless they really deserve it. Which is why he refuses to – uh – eat Bella, who bites her lip a lot in response.

If We Lived There: We’d hire a CSI team to find all of R-Pattz fingerprints throughout the house, then frame them. We're odd like that.

9 - Disturbia (2007)

The House: Beautiful timber-frame American home situated in Whittier, California. Nice garden, too.

The Movie: Canny teen update of Rear Window, in which Shia LaBeouf’s ASBO nuisance is under house arrest when he spots his neighbour behaving weirdly. Is he a closet murderer?

If We Lived There: We’d sit on the porch every evening playing the banjo and drinking Duff.
10 - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

The House: Located in Long Beach, California, this is the house owned by the Bueller family in the movie. It was also used in Red Dragon and Not Another Teen Movie.

The Movie: John Hughes classic following the titular Ferris’ fun-filled day skiving school. Charlie Sheen makes a brief, early cameo appearance.

If We Lived There: We’d invite Matthew Broderick over for dinner.

Founded in 1908 through Act No. 1870 of the first Philippine Legislature, known as the "University Act" by authority of the United States, the University currently provides the largest number of degree programs in the country. Senate Resolution No. 276 of the Senate of the Philippines recognizes the University as "the nation’s premier university". Around 11,000 of the applicants were admitted for the year 2006, an acceptance rate of about 18% for the whole of the UP system.
